Receiving email
Relenta can not download messages that were marked as read on a remote IMAP server by webmail or other email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird.
If you want to download those messages into Relenta, mark them as unread with another application first.
Each department has a user-defined default email address *****@relenta.net for both sending and receiving email. You can set up automatic email forwarding to your *****@relenta.net address, and reply to emails from Relenta using any address.
You can also add any number of remote incoming (POP/IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) email servers in Settings > Email accounts.
Email filters allow you to do a number of things with incoming email messages based on the criteria you define. For example, you can automatically create a contact from incoming email, move email to another folder, assign contact to a group or automatic email campaign, trigger an autoresponder, etc.
Yes. Click on ‘Attachments’ tab on the contact information panel to see the list of all sent and received attachments. This way you don’t have to sort through a pile of messages to find the attachment you were looking for.
Relenta offers both spam-filtering and anti-virus protection for our paying customers only. Only email accounts (your-name@relenta.net) are checked for spam.
If you’re using Relenta to read email from remote POP/IMAP servers, then spam-filtering and anti-virus protection are the responsibility of your email service provider or webhost.
If your POP or IMAP email provider doesn’t offer spam filtering, you have two options:
1. Choose another provider. Many of our customers use GoDaddy.
2. Forward your email to your-name@relenta.net (paying Relenta customers only).
Some email providers tag email messages as spam by adding one of the following:
- [SPAM] in the subject line, or
- Email header to designate message as spam, i.e.
- X-Spam
- X-Spam-Score
- X-Spam-Level
- X-Spam-Status
- X-Spam-Flag
- X-YahooFilteredBulk
If your email provider tags email in one of the above ways, it will be placed in Spam folder in your Relenta account.
When Relenta receives an email, it attempts to match sender’s email address with one of the email addresses in the contact database. If a match is found, Relenta automatically associates the incoming message with that contact.
If sender’s email address is not found in the contact database, you have two options:
- Assign message to one of the existing contacts. In this case, sender’s email becomes one of the contact’s email addresses, and all future messages sent from that email address will be associated with that contact. Click on ‘Assign this email to an existing contact’ link > Search and choose a contact > Click ‘Assign’
- Create a new contact from email message. In the future, all messages sent from that email address will be associated with that contact. Click on ‘Create new contact from this email’ link > Enter contact information > Click ‘Save’
Receiving email is a continuous process. Typically it takes a few minutes between email server checks but may take longer in case of increased server load.
Relenta allows you to add any number of incoming (POP/IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) email accounts. To add an email account, follow these steps:
- Click on ‘Settings’ tab > ‘Email settings’ > ‘Add new email account’
- Enter email account information and choose protocol type from the drop-down menu (POP/IMAP/SMTP)
- Click ‘Save’
